Strengthening Collaboration Between the UN and International Financial Institutions

CIC has been implementing this program, which is aimed at supporting dialogue between the UN and IFIs, and more recently regional MDBs that prioritizes finding actionable ideas for enhancing links between their work.

Key Initiatives

• Inter-organizational learning occurs through CIC-facilitated exchanges between the UN and the IFIs to tackle complex issues such as debt sustainability, domestic resource mobilization, financing for development, and multilateral reform.
• Technical assistance to countries facing the intersections of economic, social, and political challenges, ensuring that their engagement with multilateral organisations is more effective.
• Facilitating training sessions for UN Resident Coordinators to better collaborate with IFIs, helping them understand how the institutions and their structures work, both at HQ and in the field, as well as looking at specific thematic issues.
